About Very Fine; some roughness to surfaces.

From a private Swedish collection.

Belonging to the largest denomination of a series of five commemorative pieces struck in Mantinea for Antinous, the present piece has been further enhanced by the addition of the circular frame, a device seldom seen on Roman Provincial coins and indeed known to have been employed on only two other medallions of Antinous: one from Tarsus in Cilicia (Blum pg. 53, 13), and one from Nicomedia in Bithynia (Gemini III, 9 January 2007, lot 387).

Estimate: 250 GBP
